As timeless as the island that inspired it
Since 1946 the Canfora family has made sandals by hand in the heart of Capri. Our shop on Via Camerelle has welcomed travellers, artists and icons, from Jacqueline Kennedy to the women who walk the Piazzetta today.
Each model keeps the same essential shape the island made famous: a clean sole, soft leather straps and details that are worked by hand, one pair at a time.
Today the shop and workshop are run by Maria Angela and Rita Canfora, who still build every sole with the method Amedeo Canfora used when he opened in 1946.

Amedeo Canfora opened the shop in 1946 and patented the traditional Capri sandal. We still build every sole his way.

What goes into every pair
Every Canfora sandal is made in our workshop on Via Camerelle with 100% Italian materials. Nothing is glued: each part is sewn, pressed or nailed.
The sole
Several layers of Italian leather, pressed and sewn together around an iron arch support. You can see the stitching underneath.
The heel
Pressed layers of leather finished with rubber, not plastic, for grip on stone lanes and stairs.
The straps
Italian calf or goat leather, nailed to the sole rather than glued, so they stay firmly in place.
The ornaments
Fine Italian costume jewellery, chosen to last as long as the leather it sits on.

When will my order ship?
Every order ships within 10 working days. We don't keep stock: each pair is made to order in our Capri workshop.
Can I return or exchange my sandals?
Because sandals are made to order, we can't accept returns when the model, colour and size match your order. If we made a mistake on model, colour or size, we replace the pair at our expense.
How do I choose the right size?
Use our size & heel guide. If you're between sizes or unsure, write to us before ordering and we'll help you choose.
Which payment methods do you accept?
